Model UN Final

Committee: UNDP

Country: Venezuela

Topic: Eradication of Poverty

Name: Andres Torres

Greetings honorable chair,

The United Nations Development Programme is a program that focuses on getting rid of poverty around the world. This committee has as of right now 166 countries supporting its cause to make the MDG (Millennium Development Goals) project come in effect. The first goal that must be achieved will be the elimination of extreme poverty all around the world.

In this choice of thought, Venezuela stands as a country with a range from 30-40% of people under poverty. Chavez, as the president said himself that he will end poverty, but as a poor woman says “Chavez said he would put an end to poverty – what he is really doing is putting an end to the poor.” (Analysis Report). Venezuela’s capital income has decreased, due to its lower level of oil exports. According to Rodriguez, Venezuela is now one of the most unequal societies, barely passing South Africa and Brazil. In the living quarters of civilians, the poverty levels have more than doubled, from 15% to 45% of extreme poverty households. Because of the civil problems within Venezuela, the civilian’s satisfaction with the way things are done by the government  is not at satisfying… the precedent of Venezuela won the electing by cheating witch has Venezuela in a thin string of loyalty. Some of the qualities that are increasing poverty in Venezuela is the decrease of per capital income. Venezuela is one of the countries that is under poverty, but there is only about 5-10%  of population is under extreme poverty. This comes into conclusion that even if Venezuela has some bad part of the country under poverty, the country is still willing to do what it can to make the future a better place to live up to.

As statistics go, the finest way live, is by living under a thick barrier, in other words, to have a life. For one’s self to be able to put a roof under you is to be able to go to school, and get an education. Statistics show that the least places that poverty spreads, is in places that hundreds of people are getting a degree every day. This means that if an offer could be proposed to these people that have never gone to school, so that they can redo their academic lives again, this could give these people a chance to do it right. This statistics are provided by the CUAB (Catholic University Andrés Bello), this research group can also help sponsor the cause so it is possible that some people under poverty could go to school. ATD Fourth World is also an organization from France that also aims for the support to eliminate poverty. Only some of these people are able to go, because with the educational budged problems, it would be impossible to get everybody to school.  As time progresses if this work the way they are intended to work, extreme poverty will be eliminated.
